Since Magellan Roadmate 2000 navigation system is small, lightweight, and operates with a battery, you can actually use Roadmate 2000 as a portable GPS navigator.

Magellan Roadmate 2000 GPS comes with pre-loaded map for 48 contiguous United States and points of interest such as gas stations, airports, hotels, restaurants, and more. Point of interest icons appear on the map. You can touch an icon to get detailed information such as phone number. You can also save your own points of interest in Address Book.

Magellan Roadmate 2000 GPS uses SirfstarIII chip that allows receiving a satellite signal fast and easier. The chip avoids the no signal problem when you are in urban canyons.
